PNC Speaker Series- Piru Water

On March 25th, 2021, Warring Water and Ventura County Public Works brought us up to speed on Piru water. We welcomed Glen Pace, the president of Warring Water, located here in our Piru basin. Warring is a private water system that is regulated by the Public Utilities Commission and serves the municipal and industrial uses as well as some agriculture in and around the town of Piru.

Glen has served as president of Warring Water since 2007, and the company is owned by his mother and a partner. All of the water used in the Warring system is supplied by groundwater wells located in the Piru basin. In addition to HIS role with Warring Water, Glen Pace is also president of the Piru Basin Pumpers Association board of directors,  and he represents these pumpers as well as other pumpers in the Piru area by sitting on the Filmore and Piru Basins  Groundwater Sustainability Agency.

Glen gave an informative overview of the Piru water system, answered many questions and we were so appreciative of his time.

Next we were fascinated to hear from Joseph Pope, the Water and Sanitation Director of Ventura County Public Works, where he oversees the Water and Sanitation Department's Utility Services Division (USD) and Integrated Waste Management Division (IWMD). These divisions work to provide uninterruptible high-quality water, a reduction of waste, prevention of pollution and promote sustainable management of materials within the unincorporated communities such as Piru.

Joseph was joined by Scott Meckstroth, Deputy Director also of Ventura County Public Works. Thanks to both Joe and Scott for their time and expertise while speaking about Piru's wastewater and the infrastructure that is clearly a passion for them both. Their informative presentation was well received.

A special thank you to Manuel Minjares who arranged for Scott and Joe to participate, and for our PNC Speakers Series lead Maria Christopher.
