AROUND TOWN

Our Town

There are lots of interesting things to do around town. Enjoy a trip to the playground, go for a run on the path, appreciate the historic murals, hike up to the cross, relax in one of our parks, enjoy a meal from one of the restaurants, practice your tricks at the skatepark, happen upon a yard sale, or simply stroll throughout the charming town and introduce yourself to a neighbor.

The Mosaics around Town

Nicole D’Amore created the series of 17 mosaic circles that you will see throughout our streets with scenes representing the history of Piru. Nicole grew up in Denmark, studied art history, painting and mosaics in Ravenna, Italy, at the Academy of Fine Art.

The Historic Railroad

The arrival of the Southern Pacific Railroad to the Santa Clara River Valley in 1887 changed the face of the valley forever. Remainders of that time are two historic railroad bridges, the Piru train depot, and of course the train tracks.

Lake Piru

We are so lucky to have Lake Piru close by. A drive up to the lake is a wonderful way to enjoy a little get-away. Many of you have been spotted fishing, and enjoying the stunning vista, not to mention the abundant wildlife this area has to offer. Remember to take an opportunity to drive up and enjoy a picnic lunch.
