PIRU NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL is conducting a special meeting at the
COMMUNITY CENTER on Orchard Street
Wednesday, February 5, 2025 – 6PM – 8 PM
All Piru residents are welcome and encouraged to attend meeting. This meeting is open to Piru residents, and will have information and/or presentations by various representatives:
Panel 1: Emergency Procedures and Evacuation
- Supervisor’s Office – Manual Minjares representing Kelly Long
- OES – Office of Emergency Services – Patrick Maynard, Director Emergency Services
- Sheriff Department – Eduardo “Lalo” Malagon, Captain, Chief Fillmore Police
- Ventura County Fire Department Station 28 – Batallion Chief Eugene Fong and Captain Weston Paldillez
Panel 2: Emergency Resources
- Ventura County Human Services – Daniel Maguire, Disaster Response & Recovery Officer
- American Red Cross – Kim Price-Marczuk & Diana Swartz
- Ventura County Fire Council – Stephen Watson & Michael Lopez (home hardening program, “Fire-Wise” status of Piru, overview of Council resources, community activities such as clearing done in the fall)
Panel 3: Community Resources
- Ventura County Human Services – Sonia Kroth, Community Relations Manager
- Fillmore-Piru School District – Christine Schieferle, Superintendent
- CA American Water – Available water resources, gravity or pump, other water supply in emergency info. Updates from Ken Wiseman
- Ventura County Food Share – programs offered during the outages and on a regular basis. Updates from Ken Wiseman
- Piru CERT Team and their role in an emergency and general support of Piru Community – Michael Lopez & Irene Ruiz
- PNC Volunteer Work – brush clearing on four Mondays from 2pm to 5pm starting Monday Feb 17 – Ken Wiseman
